Mr. Smith is a mechanical engineer with 30 years broad professional experience in business, engineering, project, and executive management for heavy industry, public utilities and independent power generators. Over the years, he has managed several successful major power generation and related projects for owners from concept through development and finance, and then from financial closing through construction to completion and well into successful commercial operations. He is experienced and highly successful in negotiation of, and as necessary, dispute resolution of complex and interrelated agreements for engineering, procurement and construction, for fuel supply, for operations and maintenance services, for transmission interconnection agreements, and for the technical aspects of power sales and international financing agreements. His project and general management portfolio also includes engineering, operations and maintenance of hydro-electric, steam-electric, co-generation, slow-speed diesel, and simple and combined cycle combustion turbine generator systems using wood biomass, bagasse, heavy and light fuel oil, black liquor, coal, and natural gas. Mr. Smith’s broad based management experience and technical expertise make him ideally suited for seamless integration into a power producer’s management or technical staff at any level when temporary demands for professional and technical management expertise exceed the permanent staff’s capacity or skill-sets.
